Hair transplant techniques

There are different methodes to perform a hair transplant. There is the FUE Sapphire and DHI technique (Direct Hair Implantation).

In the FUE Sapphire technique the scalp is first locally sedated. After that small incisions will me made in the area of implantation. This will be performed with a special Sapphire metal tip.

In the DHI technique the doctor uses a special CHOI pen. During this technique the step of opening the canals, like in FUE, is being skipped. The DHI technique is perfect when you want to fill in local balding areas, for example only the temples.

The procedure will take up approx. 6-8 hours in total, from beginning to end.

Am I qualified for a hair transplant?

Before booking your hair transplant at the clinic we first need to be sure you are suitable for the procedure. The following criteria will be checked:

  • Overall health condition (any allergies, disease or medication use)
  • Alcohol use and / or smoking habits
  • In case of hair loss it’s important to know why it started and when it started (sometimes it’s needed to do a test)
  • There needs to be sufficient, healthy donor hair in the donor area

Day of the procedure

Below you will see an example of a hair transplant procedure day:

Step 1 – Consultation with the doctor

In the morning the consultation with the doctor will take place. We will go trough the whole procedure again and you have the chance to ask all your questions.

Step 2 – Deciding on your hairline / desired result

The doctor will draw the hairline together with you. It’s important you take a good look at it because this is your chance of getting the hairline you’ve always wanted! So really take your time.

Step 3 – Shaving the donor area

After drawing the hairline the donor area will be shaved. This is the mid section on the back side of your head. Shaving doesn’t hurt, although it can feel quite weird as a woman…

Step 4 – Extraction of the donor area

The donor area will be desinfected and numbed. After that the hair follicles will be extracted one by one. These follicles (grafts) will be kept in a special fluid (acid) to later on be implanted in the desired area.

Lunch time!

It is importanted to eat, lunch will be served.

Step 5 – Opening of the canals (incisions)

The doctor will make small incisions (little holes) on the hairline, this is called “canalling” Later on the grafts will be implanted in these canals.

Step 6 – Implanting the grafts

During this step de hair follicles (grafts) will be implanted back in the desired area. This will all happen under local anesthesia. Most women fall asleep during the procedure.

Once this step is finished, the technician will put bandage on the donor area. Your hair will be combed and you are finished with the procedure. You will receive a Goodie Bag with shampoo and lotion, also with instructions on how to treat the area the first days after.

Now you can go home or back to the hotel to relax and enjoy your new hairline!

Be very careful! Keep your head upwards.

Straight and the first days after the procedure it’s important to be very careful with the recently implanted grafts. You can not touch them, bend over or lift heavily. This is crucial to achieve a beautiful result.

The first 5 days you will need to sleep in an upwards position (90 degrees angle). You will receive a neck pillow from the clinic. In the beginning you will have to get used to this but it’s important for the recovery and for the result!

The first washing

On the second day after the procedure you can come back to the clinic for the first washing. During the first washing they will check the grafts and the donor area and grafts will be carefully washed. You can also choose to do this at home, if so – you will receive an instruction video on how to do this.

Check-up moments and PRP sessions

There will be check-up moments on a reguraly base. During these moments they will track the progress and give advice on how to take care of your new hairs in the best way. You will also be able to ask any questions.

Often a check-up moment is combined with a PRP session. During that session they will take some blood and seperate the plasma. This plasma will be injected back into the area of implanted grafts. It will promote more hair growth and is full with beneficial nutrients.

You will receive discount on PRP sessions after your hair transplant, this easily will save you 100 EUR per session.
